The Saltire Scholars programme is designed to provide penultimate and final year university students with commercial experience in a professional environment. This summer Baxters has committed to providing placements for three recent graduates.
David McDougall, who recently completed an MA (Hons) in Economics at Heriot-Watt University, will work across different areas of Baxters European business to support the company’s ESG agenda.
David said: "I am delighted to be interning at Baxters over the summer. Having just graduated from Heriot-Watt University in Economics, I am sincerely grateful to Baxters for giving me the opportunity to kickstart my career in sustainability and the growing field of ESG."
Callum Bell, a BA (Hons) Finance graduate from Strathclyde University, and Scott Waitt, who achieved a MEng in Product Design Engineering from the University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art, will both work alongside the European Sales and Operations team on their assignment.
Callum commented: “I am excited to embark on this internship and grateful to Baxters for providing me with this experience. The opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and translate the theoretical knowledge from my degree into practical applications on real-world projects presents an engaging and stimulating challenge.
Scott added: “I am grateful for Baxters for giving me the opportunity to work within the European planning team over the next few months. This placement will allow me to gain important experience and knowledge in a sector that is new to me and will hopefully be a great steppingstone to start my career.”
Clyde Marwick, Group HR & Communications Director at Baxters Food Group, explained: “The Saltire Scholars programme is a fantastic initiative which provides invaluable work experience for university students. We are delighted to support the programme and allow David, Callum and Scott to further develop their skills as part of the Baxters team.”
