A double star award recognises a product as ‘outstanding’ and ‘above and beyond delicious’, placing Baxters Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet into an exclusive category achieved by less than 10% of entries.

Commenting on Baxters Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet, the judges’ stated: “A very attractive well-presented gherkin with a good pickle flavour. There is an excellent crunch releasing a flavour profile that is everything we want from gherkin – clean, simple pure, well-balanced and very tasty. This is a first-class example of how a great-tasting gherkin should be.”

In addition to a double star award for Baxters Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet, the following products produced by Baxters all received a ‘Simply Delicious’ single star, for food that ‘delivers fantastic flavour’ as shown in the judges’ comments:

  • Baxters Sauerkraut – “A simple and for us simply perfect example of fermented sauerkraut. We love the acidity, the crunch and the light saltiness. There's a lovely clean aftertaste, too. A great example.”
  • Baxters Cullen Skink – “This is a generous-looking chowder with plenty of fish pieces and well-sized cubes of potato. The base is creamy and rich and the natural smoky flavour and look of the smoked haddock makes this a hearty comforting meal.”
  • Garner’s Red Cabbage –“A very vibrant pickled cabbage! Well-judged level of sweetness. It is quite sharply acidic. A fabulous crunch has remained on the cabbage. Delicious!”
  • Garner’s Pickled Shallots - “These are lovely little taste bombs with a sweeter pickle that encompasses all the onion flavour, melding the sweet and sour notes together. There is a satisfying crunch and all ends on a lingering spicy, sweet, almost caramelised, fruity finish.”
  • Garner’s Pickled Cauliflower with Turmeric & Ginger – “A really vibrant pickle with an admirable, even colour. The crunchy texture is superb and the flavour is full and moreish.”

Following awards for two other Garner’s products last year, this takes Great Taste accreditations to an impressive five across the Garner’s range. Baxters Super Good soups also received two awards in 2022.
