Main purpose of the role:
- To prepare accurate and timely key statutory returns including the year end audit, indirect taxes and the Poland returns with external support
- To supply timely, accurate and insightful financial information to the European business including actuals, forecasts, budgets and strategic plan of consolidated P&L’s with focus on balance sheet and cashflows
- To ensure strong controls on cash and fixed assets within the European Business.
Main accountabilities:
- Reporting into the European Head of Central Finance this role will be supported by two part-time direct reports who currently focus on cash management.
- Key responsibilities will include, consolidation of the European period results, weekly cashflow forecast reporting, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, dealing with external auditors on the annual and interim statutory audit and Poland statutory financial matters with the assistance of external advisors. Completion of UK indirect tax returns (VAT, PPT, Alcohol Duty), maintenance of fixed asset registers and control of Capex in conjunction with Project Engineers.
- Deliver robust, accurate, insightful and timely weekly and period reporting from the consolidated P&L to the European Balance sheet and cashflow reporting including understanding and insight into the movement in the numbers.
- Involvement in budgeting and forecasting processes involving consolidation of the overall financial statements for submission to the Baxters Food Group.
- Supporting the Head of Central Finance on European finance projects as required.
- Deputising for the European Head of Central Finance when required and ensuring strong working relationships are established with the European business operating units, European Board and Extended Leadership Team and Baxters Group Finance team.
- Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures including a focus on safety and well- being of colleagues, communicating effectively, legal and quality business aspects
Key Characteristics:
- Newly Qualified ACA / CA. or part qualified with industry experience
- Ability to connect with people easily across Finance teams and throughout the wider business
- Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment branded and / or non- branded would be useful but not essential
- Technically strong ideally with some experience of indirect tax rules.
- Ideally experience of Oracle financial systems
- Experience of supplying information and managing external auditors through a year end audit process
- Wider knowledge of latest accounting and taxation matters and their impact on the business
- Highly organised to be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and a very high attention to detail.
