Foodbanks & charities across Scotland

Close to home we have delivered tins and jars of Baxters Soup & Jam to local food banks – Moray Food Plus in Elgin, Highland Foodbank in Inverness, PWAMM in Perth and the Dundee Foodbank. These foodbanks all provide essential supplies to their local communities to ensure that no one goes hungry. They rely on goodwill & volunteers to support them in their fight against food poverty.

Social Bite

We’re also pleased to be supporting one of our local charity partners, Social Bite. Based in Edinburgh they run social enterprise cafes across Scotland and have recently repurposed their business in order to deliver food & essential supplies to people in need.

They are aiming to produce & deliver over 3,000 food packs to vulnerable people all over Scotland. Alongside supporting homeless people they are working with partners to get these supplies to other people in food poverty, families who were relying on free school meals and those who have just been made redundant due to the crisis.

FareShare

Although we regularly support FareShare we were keen to provide them with a significant amount of stock during these unprecedented circumstances.

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 independent organisations. They take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to almost 11,000 frontline charities and community groups. The food they distribute reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week they provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people which is an incredible feat.

Emergency Services

We had been due to hand out samples of our Super-Licious Soup Pots to hungry commuters in the Manchester area during March, but when this crisis hit the UK we quickly shifted our focus to instead gifting these convenient pots to our hugely valued key workers. The emergency services across the UK are currently working around the clock so this was just a small way of us showing our appreciation by giving them an easy, tasty and nutritious hot lunch on us.

Age UK Care Packages

We teamed up with Vicky Pattison who has been working hard with Age UK to distribute isolation care packages to those who are elderly & vulnerable. We’re lucky that our Soup is able to provide them with a quick, hearty & healthy dinner at a time when they need to keep safe at home. Thanks to all the other food companies who got involved in this great initiative.

Candlelighters

Candlelighters is a charity based in Yorkshire who provide essential services and support to children with cancer and their families.

This crisis is proving extremely difficult for these families, as parents will need to live in hospital with their child to avoid the risk of bringing in the virus. They can’t be fed by the hospital as they’re not patients so without access to buying food this leaves them in a very challenging situation. At this concerning time our Soup can help give them a nutritious and filling meal.

Somebody Cares UK

We were delighted to be able to support the Aberdeenshire-based charity Somebody Cares.

Through the kindness and generosity of people in their local area and beyond they provide free food as well as clothing & furniture to poor, vulnerable and marginalised people in the area.

Colchester Foodbank

We also reached out to a foodbank close to our manufacturing site in Colchester. Their Foodbank has been helping people in the local area for over 10 years and we were pleased to be able to provide a donation of some of our products.

Care Packages

Baxters are also proud to be a part of the weekly care packages provided by the Government during this crisis that are delivered to the country’s most vulnerable people. We appreciate all the hard work from the foodservice companies Bidfood & Brakes in getting these packages out at this challenging time.

A final thank you to our dedicated team at Baxters who are essential in allowing us to keep manufacturing our products and despatching them to those in need during this unique and challenging time.
